I am seeing a trend, people saying that they don’t exercise because they just don’t have the motivation or the time (BUT I shall attack ‘TIME’ another time, perhaps when I have ‘more time’… No, WHEN I MAKE THE TIME – but that will be another time, excuse my puns! hehe . Well readers I am going to share the secret on how to work out with or without motivation, and yes it is actually possible…
This may come to a shock to most but I don’t actually enjoy working out, I mean there are lots of times when I don’t want to train and getting off my butt seems like is a real chore. It’s rare I get ready to hit the gym, for PT or to go for a run all excited and full of energy. The gym doesn’t give me the warm and fuzzies, either does running when it’s hot, cool, early, during the day or dark. I wasn’t born with extra energy nor do I have extra hours in my day than anyone else…I work full-time and like most I’m tired when I get home from work, so siking up to get hot, bothered, sweaty and pushing myself mentally, physically and emotionally isn’t exactly what I want to do when I get home from work. I would much prefer to be out socialising, or relaxing in the tub reading a book, or spending time with Minx (my super cute kitty-kat). So it’s safe to say that most of the time I would rather be doing other things than training, but you gotta do what you gotta do and make what you want happen.
Most days each rep is forced, each foot to pavement hurts and I don’t want to go on, my legs are heavy and feel like jelly, there is that burn and aching feeling in my lungs BUT I don’t need to be motivated to carry on, I just need to be disciplined to get in and do the work that is set out to get me where I want to be. At the end of the day you don’t actually need to be excited about working out to get the results, the results are what should excite you.
You don’t wait for motivation to show up or the perfect training conditions, otherwise you will never get anywhere. You just need to show up and do the work, fight the pain, keep pushing and don’t finish until you have finished your business for the day. I’m not going to lie, I force myself to do it, I fight, I cry, I curse and I carry on, but I get in and do it. I don’t do this for anyone else; I’m doing it for me. I want to be the best person I can be. Now I know it’s what’s on the inside that counts, but why on earth would I not want to be the best on the outside I can be as well. I have the drive, I am disciplined, I am competitive and stubborn as all get out. I don’t have the time to wait around for if my motivation decides to show up, I just need to be disciplined enough to get up, go about my business wether its weight training, running, circuit work etc, rain, hail or shine (within reason of course, I am more running with the expression to be a little dramatic) knowing that as long as I’m doing the work I will get the results, with or without motivation being present…
And you know what… That in itself is pretty dam motivating to me!
I hope all is going well,

This isn’t a motivation problem, just a lack of interest. It comes from being destroyed over the years & people who don’t want to make the time for themselves because it is easier to just be lacking!
That is true! Thank-you for stopping by and commenting 🙂 I guess at the end of the day what drives people and the choices they make is based off what interests them. At the end of the day if you want something bad enough, you make time for it 🙂 jesse-b
